Knowing what to do, knowing what to say, knowing where to be what to be in, what to be putting on. How to pose how to propose a question that others may actually ask of it.
A writer tells a story that others reading don't know what to say about it.
A good writer is hard to speak of. You'll listen to them and go oh yep that's them, but you move on to the ordinary of the everyday quite quickly. To know how someone is see how they behave in an airport, see how they behave in class, see how they behave at their sister's wedding, and see what they are supposed to do when nobody knows why they are speaking.
It's hard putting someone in their place. It's a lot easier when they know where to go. I don't have a place to be, because I am at the place I am supposed to be with plenty of time to spare. That's what gives you the rush of free thought. Being on place at time, try beating them for a conversation. You'll be sitting there racking your brains meanwhile they have a life to talk about.
